NHSaves® is the energy-efficiency program of New Hampshire's electric and natural gas utilities: Eversource, Liberty, Unitil and the New Hampshire Electric Co-op. Program eligibility requirements and restrictions apply. Rebate amounts are set by the utility program, depend on each home's assessment results, and are subject to change or cancellation while funding is available. Granite Hearth Home Performance is an independent contractor and does not sponsor or operate the NHSaves programs.

Check whether your home qualifies
The program scores a home on its Home Heating Index: the heat in a year's fuel, divided by the heated square feet and by the heating degree days for your ZIP code. Enter three things and the calculator shows the fuel a house your size needs to burn to reach your utility's line. Count a wood or pellet stove too; it is added to the total.
Do I qualify? ZIP code, fuel and square feet.
How it works with us
- Call or book online. We check your utility and ask about the house.
- Assessment. Blower door, infrared, combustion safety, measurements.
- Approval. Scope, rebate and your share in writing before anything is scheduled.
- The work. Our crew, usually one or two days.
- Test out. Retest, numbers, certificate.
Which utility handles your rebate
If you heat with natural gas, your gas utility runs the rebate. If you heat with oil, propane, electricity, wood or pellets, your electric utility runs it. Our town pages list the utilities for every town we serve.
Questions about NHSaves
Who qualifies for NHSaves Home Energy Performance?
Homeowners, renters with the owner's permission, and landlords of 1 to 4 unit buildings served by Eversource, Liberty, Unitil or the New Hampshire Electric Co-op. The assessment scores the house on its Home Heating Index, which compares your heating fuel use to the size of the house. Homes that score as inefficient qualify for the rebates; newer, already-insulated homes may not.
What does the assessment cost?
Ask us. The assessment terms differ by utility and change from year to year, and we will tell you the current terms for your utility when you call.
How is the rebate paid?
It comes straight off our invoice. You pay your share, we bill the program for the rest. You never front the rebate and wait for a check.
What if my share is more than I want to pay at once?
Each utility offers 0% on-bill financing up to a per-utility cap, and partner lenders offer loans from $1,000 to $15,000 at 0% for Eversource customers and 2% for Liberty, Unitil and Co-op customers, with terms of 2 to 7 years. The loan is arranged before the work starts, so tell us early.
I burn wood or pellets as well as oil. Does the stove count?
Yes. The index adds every fuel: oil, propane, gas, electricity, cordwood and pellets. A home that looks borderline on oil alone often qualifies once two or three cords a year are added. The calculator above has a box for it.
Is there help for lower-income households?
Yes. Eversource customers at or below the state median income can qualify for enhanced Home Energy Performance with no co-pay, and households at or below 60% of state median income qualify for the Home Energy Assistance program, which covers the work in full. We will point you to the right one.
