What we see in Hart's Location homes
The typical Hart's Location home was built between 1950 and 1980, which usually means R-11 fiberglass batts in the walls, a thin layer of batts on the attic floor, no air sealing anywhere, and a rim joist that was never insulated. Ranches, split-levels and garrison colonials from these decades are the bread and butter of our NHSaves work: air seal and top up the attic, foam the rim joist, and the house feels like a different place.
Heating in Hart's Location is split between oil, propane, gas, electricity and wood, so we start every job by looking at your actual bills and fuel before recommending anything. Around 62% heat primarily with wood or pellets. A tighter house means fewer cords a winter, and a heat pump can take the shoulder seasons so the stove runs only when it is truly cold.
Housing figures: U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020 to 2024 five-year estimates for Hart's Location; heating fuel shares are for owner-occupied homes.
NHSaves rebates in Hart's Location
Most of Hart's Location is served by the NH Electric Co-op for electricity and none for natural gas. All of them are NHSaves utilities. If you heat with natural gas your Home Energy Performance rebate comes through none; if you heat with anything else it comes through the NH Electric Co-op.
On most Home Energy Performance projects the program pays 100% of air sealing and 75% of insulation, up to $6,000 per home, and your share can go on a 0% or 2% program loan. We assess the house, model it, file with the utility and take the rebate off the invoice. How the program works.
Many Hart's Location households also qualify for the program’s income-eligible side. Households at or below 60% of the state median income get the work covered in full through NHSaves Home Energy Assistance, and Eversource customers up to the state median income can get an enhanced no-cost package. Tell us roughly what the household earns and we will point you to the right program; nothing is filed without your say-so.
How much fuel a Hart's Location home needs to use to qualify
| Fuel | Utility | Enrollment line | Qualifies outright |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heating oil | the NH Electric Co-op | 650 gallons | 975 gallons |
| Propane | the NH Electric Co-op | 986 gallons | 1,479 gallons |
| Natural gas | none | 900 therms | 1,351 therms |
For a 1,800 sq ft home in Hart's Location at 8,337 heating degree days (estimated from the nearest weather station). Yearly fuel use at or above the enrollment line gets the utility’s enrollment form; above the higher figure the home qualifies with any utility. A wood or pellet stove counts toward the total. Pre-screen only: the utility’s calculator and the assessment decide.
